The KAUST Challenge "Shaping the Future of Media", implemented by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in partnership with the Asbar International Forum, announced that three national and foreign companies won its prizes, which will be awarded during a special ceremony held under the patronage of the Acting Governor of Riyadh, His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdullah Rahman bin Abdulaziz, on the evening of Saturday, the 30th of October, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh.
The British software company, Factmata, came in the first place, and won the grand prize of 300,000 Saudi Riyals after it succeeded in using artificial intelligence to identify harmful content on the Internet and compile topics.
While the two Saudi institutions, Gherbal, and Sahafa, came in second and third places respectively, after "Gherbal" succeeded in developing a tool to detect spam emails and eliminate wave interference to create a smooth experience in the field of social networks, while "Sahafa" created a technology that would help journalists develop high-quality content based on accurate information.
It is noteworthy that 15 participants from a list of emerging national and foreign companies qualified for the competition, who presented their ideas before a panel of experts.
It is worth mentioning that the participants in the innovation competition were from a variety of countries around the world, including the United States of America, Great Britain, and Pakistan. Furthermore, the number of participants exceeded 700 participants.
